In our last blog, we introduced the incredible publishers that make up the Luma Imports catalog. Over the coming weeks, we will be taking a closer look at each of them, highlighting who they are and the kinds of games they create. First up is a publisher that focuses on accessibility, creativity, and bringing people together at the table: Synapses Games.

Founded in 2018 by Carl Brière, Synapses Games is a Canadian board game publisher built on a lifelong passion for tabletop gaming. Carl was first introduced to board games at the age of five, starting with classics like chess while playing with family and friends. Over time, that early curiosity grew into a deep appreciation for the many mechanics, styles, and experiences that board games can offer.

That passion eventually evolved into Synapses Games, a company dedicated to publishing games that are approachable, engaging, and memorable. Their philosophy is simple: games should be easy to learn, quick to explain, and enjoyable for both newcomers and experienced players alike.

The name “Synapses” reflects this mission perfectly. Just like the connections between neurons in the brain, Synapses Games strives to create meaningful connections between people through shared gaming experiences. Whether players are sitting down for a quick card game or diving into something more strategic, the goal is always the same: bringing people together and creating memorable moments around the table.

Synapses Games at Luma Imports

At Luma Imports, we are proud to carry several titles from Synapses Games, including two of their newest releases: Frosted Blooms and Postcards.

Designed by acclaimed designers Bruno Cathala and Ludovic Maublanc, Frosted Blooms invites players to compete to build the most beautiful and valuable tulip garden across ten rounds of play. Each round, players add landscape tiles to their gardens and play cards to score points by creating patterns. As gardens grow, players can enclose spaces to place workers, barns, or windmills for valuable end-game bonuses, rewarding thoughtful planning and clever garden design.

In Postcards, players hop on their bikes and explore the thirteen regions of France in a fast-paced strategy game focused on travel and discovery. By playing travel cards, players move across the map, establish camps to unlock bonuses, and collect postcards along the way. Timing is key, as postcards can only be mailed when players reach the correct region with enough stamps. Careful planning and smart decision making will help players optimize their journey and outmaneuver their opponents.
